Locate Paint Code for Chevrolet

The paint code for Chevrolet is found typically on the driver side door jamb, behind/under the driver seat or in the rear of the middle console. In case you do not find the Chevrolet paint color code in these locations you can try inside the rear deck lid, the spare wheel cover/well or inside the glove box. The paint color code normally starts with “BC” or “CC” indicating if the paint is a base coat or a clear coat. If your Chevy is a two-tone car, the letter “U” stands for the upper body color and “L” stands for the lower or bumper color. The following information should be a string of 4 numbers. Chevrolet Paint Code Examples: GNX/WA715U, 74/WA9260

Chevrolet

Chevrolet is GM’s mass-market brand, and it has more models spanning more uses than the other top three brands.

Recently, Chevrolet resurrected old models such as the mid-size Blazer and subcompact Trailblazer.  These models join the subcompact Trax, compact Equinox and three-row Traverse in Chevrolet’s car-based SUV lineup.  The brand still has two truck-based, full-size SUVs in the Tahoe and Suburban, as well as traditional pickup trucks in the Silverado and Colorado.

On the car side, Chevrolet’s performance heritage lives on in the Camaro and Corvette sports cars.  More practical offerings include the mid-size Malibu, Equinox, all-electric Bolt EV and Spark subcompact.

PRIMER, COLOR, AND CLEARCOAT

Naturally, you need precisely mixed colored paint to do a touch up paint job.  But, you also need other materials.  Specifically, primer is required for damage that has reached the original base material.  Also, clearcoat is required to produce a thin protective layer for your paint job once dried.

WAX AND GREASE REMOVER CLOTH

Additionally, the wax and grease remover cloths remove wax, grease, and contaminants before painting.

SANDPAPER

Don’t forget that wet-sanding the affected area prior to painting removes rust and prepares the surface with a rough finish so the paint can stick better.

POLISHING COMPOUND

And finally, the polishing compound smooths everything out with to factory-grade finish.
